This is the current Gyokuro for the national competition of Miyahara Yoshiaki, who, in the past years, has produced the Gold Gyokuro several times. In 2023, he has won the 2th place of the first rank, but we prefer lasting relationships over awards. This is a Gyokuro that has been produced with the utmost care and it makes the pride of Miyahara-san. The tea garden is in front of his house in a rural part of the Hoshino region. This the has been shaded for 20 days.

Gyokuro Gyokuro are the noblest teas in Japan, the name meaning drop of jade dew. For this tea, only leaves of overshadowed tea bushes are used. By casting a shadow on the bushes, their growth slows down. This results in more amino acids and chlorophyll in the leaves and consequently a more pronounced umami and sweet taste, less catechins and therefore less bitter substances. To produce Gyokuro, the tea bushes are overshadowed for twenty-one days before the plucking. Gyokuro teas are very dense and aromatic.
