A very beautiful Baimudan from Yunnan, carefully produced and withered over a long period. Because of the steadily increasing prices of the genuine white teas from Fuding and other regions in the Fujian province, there is more and more white tea being produced in Yunnan. Unfortunately, the quality of these teas is often not convincing. Dian is the shortened name of the province Yunnan, Mudan refers to Bai Mu Dan White Peony. The leaves come from tress that are some decades old and that are usually used for Pu Er; our Sheng Tai Cha also comes from that region.
Category:
Bai Mu Dan Bai Mu Dan teas are white teas for which two leaves and a bud are harvested and processed, for better qualities only one leaf and the bud are plucked. The name literally means white peony. Classical Bai Mu Dan come from the villages of Fuding and Zhenghe in the province of Fujian, China, but today this kind of tea is also being produced in other regions as well. Bai Mu Dan teas are smoothly mellow in taste, light to the palate, yet comparatively strong.
Storage:
This tea undergoes a process of microbial fermentation while stored, during which it loses freshness and the typcal flavours of white teas, while gaining depth, sweetness and earthy notes.
