Da Tuan Huang Cha2CDT Harvest: 10.05.2023
Origin: China / Anhui / Huangshan / Jinzhai / Dabieshan
Height: 700 m.a.s.l
Tea plant varietal: Qun Ti Zhong
Very interesting yellow tea made in the classic way, pressed into a large ball and thus roasted over charcoal and finally dried. We break open the big lumps and pack off 50g. The tea was fermented three times using traditional menhuang (sultry/sticky yellowing) and charcoal roasted three times. Datuancha is in the tradition of the craftsmanship of the great masters of the Buddhist monasteries.
Character:
Original and unusual. Reminiscent of warm tobacco and long nights by the campfire. Smells of vanilla, wool and smoke. The liquid is thick and sweet, interwoven with fine citrus notes.
Category:
Mao Feng Mao Feng, literally hairy summit, is produced in many places around China and probably originates in Huangshan (in Anhui province). Usually, the bud and two leaves are used for this tea, particularly leaves from a second plucking, and in part from varietals with large leaves. The leaves are often heated in an oven with hot air. Mao Feng teas are rather of dark green colour and some are very quaffable. With this tea, the bitter green tea note is rather in the background.
