Description:
Very interesting yellow tea made in the classic way, pressed into a large ball and thus roasted over charcoal and finally dried. We break open the big lumps and pack off 50g. The tea was fermented three times using traditional menhuang (sultry/sticky yellowing) and charcoal roasted three times. Datuancha is in the tradition of the craftsmanship of the great masters of the Buddhist monasteries.
Character:
Original and unusual. Reminiscent of warm tobacco and long nights by the campfire. Smells of vanilla, wool and smoke. The liquid is thick and sweet, interwoven with fine citrus notes.

Description:
A good yellow tea, processed as Mao Feng or Maojian. Huang Xiao Cha means Small Yellow Tea and refers to the better quality of the later harvest, while Huang Da Cha (Big Yellow Tea) would be the cheapest quality, and Huangya the most refined one from buds only. Huoshan Huangya is one of the classic yellow teas, like other yellow teas, is usually produced in a very green way, as it is the contemporary trend. It can thus hardly be differentiated from green teas. This Huoshan Huangxiaocha, however, has been produced in a classic way, really yellow, through the traditional Menhuang process: packed and piled up in portions over several days, it turned or sweat itself yellow. From time to time those packages of tea leaves are unpacked and then wrapped up again. Finally dried above charcoal.
Character:
Heavy, fruity-sweet yet familiar aromas complement the archaic and fullbodied character of this wunderful yellow tea.

Description:
This is a genuine Junshan Yinzhen (Silverneedle from Mount Jun) of top-quality that comes from the island of Junshandao in the lake Dongtinghu, produced as a classical needle-shaped yellow tea (Zhenxingcha). It has been yellowed by packing, unpacking, shuffling and re-packing it for 60 hours in a warm room. This decisive process is called Menhuang, which translates as stuffy/hot and humid yellowing. The original region for Junshan Yinzhen on the island of Junshandao is very small, which makes this tea very coveted and expensive. This is added to the very labour intensive process of Menhuang, of which the yellow tea results.
Character:
A universe in every sip. First shy, it slowly unfolds to its full power: smoky, slightly tart, sweet spicy and fruity, it reminds of a white blossoms. Its taste is full and savoury, overwhelming.

Description:
Very good everyday yellow tea. Da Cha means big tea and refers to the cheaper quality from large, late-picked leaves, shaped similar to the Meicha or Maofeng. This Mengding Huangdacha comes from tea gardens behind Mengding Mountain from tea plants of the old local Sichuan variety. It was traditionally processed as yellow tea, i.e. through traditional Menhuang - humid/sticky yellowing, lasting at least 96 hours. The leaves are packed for about 24 hours at a time and fermented at high humidity and about 40°C, with more heat added in between depending on the condition and changes that have taken place. This whole process is difficult to control (the tea can suffocate and thus break) and very labour-intensive. Finally, the tea was roasted or dried three times over charcoal.

Mengding is probably the oldest tea-growing area that is not wild, i.e. planted by humans.

Description:
One of the classic yellow teas. Top quality only from buds, with very beautiful dark yellow-black bamboo leaf shape, similar to Zhu Ye Qing, processed as Zhenxingcha (needle leaf tea).

Like other yellow teas, Mengding Huangya is nowadays usually produced very green and can hardly be distinguished from green teas.

It was traditionally processed as yellow tea, i.e. through traditional Menhuang - humid/sticky yellowing, lasting at least 96 hours.
